Learn what each symptom means in 7 warning signs your brakes need service.
What brake service can include
Depending on what we find during inspection, brake service may include new brake pads, new or resurfaced rotors, and checking calipers, hardware, brake hoses and brake fluid. Pads that are replaced before they wear down to the metal help protect the rotors and keep repair costs lower.
Protect your brakes on mountain roads
On long downhill stretches, use a lower gear so the engine helps slow the vehicle, and avoid riding the brakes. This reduces heat and helps pads and rotors last longer. Keeping up with a regular maintenance schedule, including brake fluid, is just as important.
Question: Do I always need new rotors with new brake pads?
Not always. Rotors that are within the manufacturer's minimum thickness and have a smooth, even surface can sometimes be reused. Rotors that are too thin, deeply grooved or causing pedal pulsation should be replaced. We will explain what we find so you can make an informed decision.
