About Our Diesel Oil Change
Diesel engines work hard and produce more soot than gasoline engines, so they need oil designed for diesel use and regular changes to stay healthy. Our signature diesel oil change keeps your truck or SUV running smoothly and includes a free tire rotation and balance.
Why diesel engines need special attention
- Soot from combustion ends up in the oil, and diesel-rated oil is formulated to keep it suspended.
- Towing, idling and short trips are severe service conditions that shorten oil life.
- Cold weather makes clean oil and healthy batteries and glow plugs even more important for starting.
Signs your diesel is due for service
- The oil life monitor or maintenance reminder is on
- You are near the interval in your owner's manual, especially after towing
- The oil level is low or the engine sounds louder than normal
More diesel care tips
Fuel filters, the water separator, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), the diesel particulate filter and winter fuel all play a role in keeping a diesel reliable. Read our guide to diesel truck maintenance basics, and see our tire guide to get the most from your rotation and balance.
Question: How often does a diesel truck need an oil change?
It depends on the engine and how the truck is used. Towing, frequent idling, short trips and dusty roads are considered severe service and shorten the interval. Follow the schedule in your owner's manual or your truck's oil life monitor, and book a little early if you have a big towing trip coming up.
